The brief started as "teach us video editing." It became something much more valuable.
Early in 2025, the video department of a major US sports broadcasting network came to us with a focused request: they regularly posted long-form videos and wanted help turning them into short pieces for social media.
Seemed straightforward enough. But once we started talking, it became clear that their team wanted (and deserved) to do more. The team were skilled photo editors, strong visual storytellers, who wanted to expand into original video, not just shorten what already existed. The question shifted from "how do we make shorter videos?" to "how do we think like video producers?"

The team were skilled photo editors, strong visual storytellers, who wanted to expand into original video, not just shorten what already existed. The question shifted from "how do we make shorter videos?" to "how do we think like video producers?"
So the training proposal shifted: instead of “teach us video editing” it turned into: “teach us how to create original short-form content from scratch.”
Expanding on their skill-set gave them the confidence to create materials for social media. Instead of just making cut-downs, they learned how to concept, shoot, and edit high-performing short-form content. Overall, the course taught them to understand social video at a level that gives them an expanded skill-set and real job security.
Over two months, we built a customized curriculum from the ground up:
• We customized the group’s learning journey based on their needs.
• The team asked insightful questions specific to how they would use the material, allowing us to dive deeper with our explanations.
• Assigned homework projects helped them level-up from one session to the next.
• With built-in office hours, participants could reach out to us with questions where we helped them get un-stuck via email or a short explainer videos.

Our extra short explainers sent between classes made a surprising impact for the participants:
“I can’t tell you how helpful these little videos are, thank you. It made those abstract concepts finally click.”
By the end, they weren't just cutting down existing content. They were making original work they were proud of.
"This training was a highlight of my year."
"I had to do some video work this week and having the structure and workflow ideas that you shared in session 1, made the whole thing feel more efficient so THANK YOU!"
“I’ve been wanting to learn video editing for years. Thank you for getting us up to speed so quickly.”
